Time Out - Break Reminders App Reviews

101 add

was great, now? full of problems.

I’m not sure what is going on. This was a perfect app. Now, it randomly stop working or will give you breaks twice in a half hour. Please fix it.

nice!

Thanks for this neat free app. Would be great in eventual update : remove apps icon from dock and put it in top menu bar. Also remove it from cmd+tab. This app is a background running app and I dont need to see it when I swipe from safari to textedit to iTunes to etc. Then youll get my 5 star ;) Cheers!

Glitchy

Would be great if it worked as you set it instead of popping up for unknown reasons at unset times. Will download again to see if something went wrong. Ok, now I cant download it again, keep getting error. Have to say though, when it was working, I loved it, will keep checking back to see if there is an update.

Fantastic Experience!

I’ve been using Time Out since many versions ago, and am very impressed with the quality of the 2.0.1 release. Time Out stays out of the way and reminds you to take short breaks without being annoying. Countless other apps cost you money, and don’t work nearly as well. You can try Time Out for free, and by buying the supporter’s package, you permanently unlock all of the premium features up to a future date! The developer is also very responsive to emails and resolves issues within the day. Would recommend!

Excellent for reminding yourself to move around

I get so focused on work that I’ll sit in front of the computer for many hours at a time. I’ve set up Time Out to remind me to get up and stretch fairly often and to walk around a bit at least every hour - and already I’m having less problems with eye strain and poor circulation in my feet. The free version was good enough to start, but I think the supporter features are worthwhile too - I like having the countdown in the menu bar and being able to reset when there is a “natural” break. As a programmer I spend a large portion of my life using a computer and this app is definitely improving how I feel overall.

New features are great but I don’t want to pay continuously

Great new update for this app. Lots of new features available that make the display much more appealing. Unfortunately, this app cannot be purchased outright. You need to keep up a subscription to use these features. I think. The Support screen is confusing. The paid support options are for 3, 6, or 12 months (no auto-renewal) but it also says that “as a reward all the current features will remain available permanently”. So I can’t tell if you need to keep paying to get the features or you just need to donate once.

No more back pain

If you’re anything like me you spend way too much time sitting in a chair. That’s when the back pain kicks in. After I started using Time Out to make sure that I get up and move regularly, I’ve never had back pain when I use the app. For me, when I put the cost into the context of what back pain could end up costing me, it was a no-brainer. Plus, the developer is extremely responsive and who doesn’t want to support independent developers so they can make and support more great software?

Fantastic

This application is a gift. We are starting to understand that sitting at a computer is unhealthy … so we need to take breaks. This app works really well. Nicely configurable, but pretty good settings right out of the box.

Great app to make a break from work!

That was exactly what I needed! Finally my eye can have regular breaks. Option to set your own break timers are very useful! Thank you very much!

This little app is a must on the mac of a heavy user

Life changes after installing it!

Nice!

It would be cool if the application is running in the background and has an icon in tray. And if the app will change status in iChat to Break up to H:M Sorry for my English.

Nice

But please remove it from the Dock. Thanks!

Little wishlist for the good program

Very good program, thank you for it. But it would be great if author will add system tray support and will remove icon from dock. Also want option to manage list of programs where timer freezed. It is terribly wrong to go to computer to press "Skip" when watching a film in VLC, for example.

Dock

Please remove it from the Dock!

Please remove the application icon from dock

Please remove the application icon from dock

Good but alas

Really nice app, but it’s frustrating that after finally adding the tray option, you make it a paid feature. Disappointing.

Super

Thank you! This app is just right I need!

Very useful, but has bugs

The time out never starts if you don’t focus the application at least once per session. This is terrible if you have configured the app to be launched automatically at login: it won’t notify you to take the breaks!

handy but you have to pay

handy but you have to pay periodically. There are a lot o f fancy features but they are all locked unless you pay a substancial amount of money periodically.

Best anti-RSI tool

I suffered from back pain so i needed to take regular intervals from PC use. I tried many similar programs but this is by far the best i’ve found. I think its also better than its Windows competitor, Workrave. In contrast to what has been said in other reviews the application is completely free for basic functionality. If you want to use advanced features you can try as many times as you want one at a time, but if you become a supporter (donating from 2.99$ to 12.99$ at your choice) all the advanced features are unlocked for lifetime. If you suffer from RSI or simply need to take frequent breaks this is the best tool you can get for free. Kudos to the developer!
